Dr. Martha Wang Gallagher began her professional career as a radio announcer. She started teaching Chinese as a Language Laboratory Instructor before becoming a regular language instructor at the Hsin Chu Language School in Taiwan. Later she transferred to the Language Center of Fu Jen University in Taipei, where she assumed the additional duties of the Executive Secretary. She left the Fu Jen to pursue studies in the U.S. She earned a B.A. degree in English Literature from St. Mary-of-the-Woods College, in Indiana and M.A., M. Phil., and Ph.D. degrees in Linguistics from Yale University. For three years she was Assistant Professor and Director of the Chinese-American Culture Center at Pace University. Since 1990 she has been at the U.S. Military Academy, where she is currently Associate Professor. In addition, she has taught at all levels in Chinese heritage language schools in the New York area. |
