Move over English! Growing numbers of foreigners are showing a
desire to learn the Chinese language, according to the latest official
statistics.
By the end of last year, nearly 30 million people from more than 85
countries and regions were learning standard Chinese ---Putonghua.
An estimated 410,000 foreign students have signed up for Chinese
courses over the past 10 years.
