论文摘要Paper Abstract:This research aims to focus on discussing how different language environment influence the process of teaching Chinese. It will focus on the comparison between teaching Chinese to American college students in Mainland China (Beijing) and in the US (Iowa). Basing on the personal experience, it is obvious that learners who are in different language environments will display different features of learning, and because of the different groups of learners, the pedagogies and curriculum design of Chinese classes will also become diverse. This paper wants to especially focus the view on the aspect of teaching Chinese in Beijing and in Iowa. Bejing is the capital of China, it is a real Chinese language environment, and Iowa is at the mid-west of the US, the Chinese language there is not widely used, what’s more, for Chinese language learning, the learners in different environment may have different language needs and purposes, all the above factors will have effect on the teaching process. In this way, it is essential to do a comparison of how different language backgrounds influence the process of Chinese language teaching.
