论文摘要Paper Abstract:Teaching advanced level Chinese as a foreign language is very different from teaching beginning level. Some differences can be seen with regards to student backgrounds and hobbies. However, a notable difference lies in the lack of effective advanced level textbooks for the advanced student. Therefore, pedagogy for advanced Chinese relies on flexibility and creativity in reaching students. In light of this flexibility and creativity, one goal remains clear—to mobilize the enthusiasm within students to learn Chinese. This enthusiasm can lead to development of independent learning ability, which ultimately leads to improved levels of Chinese.
The author attempts to explore students’ backgrounds and learning motivation in a business Chinese class. Based on the ACTFL 5CS, the author will use technology, a field trip, and one-on-one interviews to design a series of creative projects. These creative projects will be used as tools to motivate the students, cultivating their independent learning abilities and foster their productive skills, enrich their relevant cultural knowledge, and keep them on the path of continual learning.
