论文摘要Paper Abstract After John Dewey put forward the idea of ""learning by doing"", project based learning started to become popular at schools. It is a student-centered pedagogy with the integration of knowing and doing (Markham, 2011). Through working on projects, students actively use the knowledge they acquired in classroom to solve problems in their real life. The projects could be used as wrap-up assessments at the end of a unit. The projects vary greatly based on the unit theme and learning targets. Throughout the presentation, the presenters will share some sample effective projects with participants, such as “The Best Chef Competition” Project, Chinese New Year Tic Tac Toe Project, Campus Directions Project, and Family Book Designing Project, etc.

PBL is not only an effective way for students to apply their Chinese language skills in depth, but also an opportunity to enhance students’ critical thinking abilities. In addition, working together on projects offers chances for students to get to know more about each and make friends, which indirectly helps teachers to create an enriched and friendly classroom environment.
