This presentation discusses three ways of using authentic video clips in Chinese as foreign language classrooms based on video pedagogy. This presentation shares three video-based lesson designs at elementary, intermediate, and advanced classes. Each lesson design targets effective video pedagogy at a specific proficiency level in detail. In addition, I discuss hands-on experiences from actual teaching practices using these designs. Using video pedagogy, the presentation aims at helping teachers better prepare twenty-first century CFL students by bridging students’ formal classroom learning with their informal extracurricular learning environment. In this way, teachers could create a more interest-based, exploratory, intrinsic motivated, and less-structured language-learning environment for their students. Furthermore, the presentation shares concrete examples of video activities to help teachers create a fun classroom featuring in ways which learning time and space is beyond classroom boundaries.
