Tang Frank Lixing, New York University

Harvey Robin, New York University

In this panel presentation, Chinese teachers from K-12 programs across New York will share their approach to the teaching of culture in the Chinese language classroom from the perspective of ACTFL Standards for Foreign Language Learning (the “5 C’s”).  The teachers will discuss methods and activities for teaching about the practices, products and perspectives of traditional and popular Chinese culture; making comparisons between American, Chinese, and other student cultures; drawing connections across content areas; and incorporating cultural activities into communicative practice.  Participants will take home many ideas and activities for incorporating culture into their own classrooms.
