We all desire to be good teachers. However, what attributes and what methods should we practice, in order to be good teachers? Which skills and qualities--do students think necessary--are the ones a good teacher should have? Should a language teacher always cater to the students’ demands? How a teacher can motivate students by classroom teaching? Will a student’s teaching expectations change, when their language ability advances from the beginner to intermediate stage? If the answer is yes, what types of changes are to be expected?

This presentation will discuss these questions based upon a study of student evaluation from two American College Chinese language programs, and a summer abroad program. The evaluations used consisted of multiple-choice questions together with essay questions.
