Learning a foreign language is hard, let alone Chinese! Educators went through different stages of foreign language teaching and are still search for the best possible approach. With the advancement of technology, it becomes a common norm that foreign language teaching and learning processes should integrate technology. Companies rush to develop multimedia learning software and material to meet the needs of a more tech savvy user and client-base. Schools and educators are busy identifying what the best learning materials are.

In this presentation, let us all free our mind and let imagination guide you. Before stepping in the room of this presentation, please consider this question “if sky is the limit, what is your ideal way of teaching a foreign language?” The presenter will share her answer to this question and most importantly figure out ways to make teaching and learning of Chinese beyond the way it is now. This presentation covers a wide range of concepts in foreign language teaching and the integration of technology, from grammar-translation, pattern-drilling to immersion, from computer-assisted language learning to multimedia-enhanced software, from Second language acquisition theories to the use of technology. Come join Zhaodan Huang from Columbia University to explore the possibilities of teaching Chinese in an efficient and yet fun way!
