Representatives from the “Mandarin Chinese Language Proficiency Project: Establishing, Improving, & Expanding Chinese Language Study in Philadelphia Schools” will present best practices in establishing standards-based Chinese language programs that incorporate the “Five Cs:” Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. The presentation will explore issues such as: what resources are needed to establish an effective language program; what qualities are needed to make for an effective teacher; and what types of professional development should be provided?
